Ten Tips to Relieve Hemorrhoid Pain

Written By Callum Martinez

Many people suffer from hemorrhoid pain every day and need to find treatments that will bring them relief. Here is a list of the ten hemorrhoid remedies that worked best for me.

1. Put your feet up. I love to walk and I have a job that requires me to spend a lot of time on my feet. I have found that simply putting my feet up for 10-15 minutes a few times a day reduced hemorrhoid swelling.

2. Drink lots of water. I try to drink 10 glasses of water a day. This can be difficult when you are out and about but you can make up for it by drinking a glass or two first thing in the morning and again before going to bed at night. In fact the first thing that I do when I get up is drink a large glass of water before having my coffee. I also drink a large glass when I get home from work.

3. Eat a high fiber dessert. I have found that an easy way to add necessary fiber to my diet is to eat high fiber desserts such as fruit or dates instead of cookies or ice cream. Fruit may not be as exciting as cookies and ice cream but it will help you ease any constipation problems you may be having.

4. Take a warm bath. I have found that warm baths both reduce my stress and ease my hemorrhoid pain. This is a great and soothing way to end the day.

5. Use talcum powder. I have found that using a dab of talcum powder on the anal area after bathing helps healing by keeping the hemorrhoid dry. I do this after bathing and it does seem to help.

6. Try witch hazel.I have found that witch hazel reduces minor hemorrhoid swelling and it helps keep the anal area clean. These wipes are made by both Preparation H and generic brands. You can buy them in packets that are discreet and easy to carry.

7. Use OTC hemorrhoid treatments. when I am having one of my occasional flare-ups I use hemorrhoid suppositories You can get these at the pharmacy or buy them online.

8. Consider taking a fiber supplement. I have taken oral hemorrhoid remedies that included fiber supplements. This helped me regulate my bowel movements so that I was not straining so much. Since I've incorporated sufficient fiber and water into my diet I no longer need to take these.

9. Use ice packs. I used ice packs on the affected area when I was experiencing a great deal of swelling This was very effective and not as uncomfortable as I thought it might be.

10. Get enough sleep. I have been reading about some recent studies that indicate that the body heals itself during sleep. I always found that my hemorrhoid condition was improved after a restful night's sleep or after a short nap.

These are the simple hemorrhoid treatments that helped me find relief from my hemorrhoid pain. Most of these simple treatments cost very little or nothing at all. If you are experiencing hemorrhoid pain I encourage you to try some of these simple treatments and see if they work for you!
